We are well into the start of another year with new developments and new children being the main focus.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW PRINCIPAL : JANET WEBB
We welcome our new Principal, Janet Webb, to iThemba School and wish her many happy years here.
OUR CHILDREN AND CLASSES OF 2015
All classes now have 15 children per group. Our Busy Bees from last year are now proud to be the new Grade Rs in the Chameleon class and are working hard preparing for Primary School next year. Teacher Ncumisa with volunteer assistants are preparing them. Teacher Natalie was introduced to 15 new Busy Bees at the beginning of this year and she is assisted by Chrishiance. At the beginning of this term our third class, the Sunflowers, was started with 15 little 3-4 year olds. They are still settling but learning quickly. Janet is their teacher and Edith is assisting her in the classroom.
At the end of each month, the children who have had birthdays in that month, celebrate with a shared party. We are so grateful to Anna who provides us with the cakes for the children and they also have the fun of having their faces painted and blowing out candles. It is something they really look forward to.
VOLUNTEER ENGLISH ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME
iThemba has been blessed with a number of volunteers from St. Peter’s Church who come and read and speak to a small group of children at a time which is a great help in developing their understanding and speaking of English.
WRIGGLE AND RHYME
We are so grateful to Kirsty and her staff for volunteering their time to bring this fun musical programme to our children. They are benefitting so much from it.
AN EASTER GIFT FOR THE CHILDREN
What joy on the faces of the children when staff from Leaf Capital came to visit and handed out surprise gifts to each child.
DONATION OF JERSEYS, CAPS AND BOOKS FROM OVERSEAS
Each child has been given a home knitted jersey and cap sent from overseas and just as winter is starting! They were delighted with their garments and they look so snug and warm in them. The books are treasured by all and well used.
In the first term our parents were invited to a meeting where we got to know one another and Sandra Hammon from Bay Primary School came to talk about registering for Grade 1 as well as how best to help your child develop in the home.
MY SCHOOL PROGRAMME
We are members of the Woolworths “My School Programme??? and we appreciate all those who have taken cards or registered their cards on our behalf. If you wish to help us in this way please go onto their website and register at www.myschool.co.za for iThemba School.
